Not your "standard" Merlot. Full of complexity, this wine is incredibly versatile, complementing cheeses, poultry, pasta dishes, ham and smoked meats, veal, duck, salmon, beef, Moussaka, spicy Asian dishes, and chocolate.
2008 Petite Verdot
Information
We have been growing Petit Verdot, one of the five great Bordeaux varietals, for some time, but this is our first 100% bottling. In the past we have used these grapes as part of the blends of our Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, and Meritage, but it’s great on its own. Our Petit Verdot vineyard is the highest at the estate; extremely steep and hard to farm, but worth the effort.
Characteristics
Deep inky purple color, with aromas of violet and toasty oak, and flavors of current, blackberry, and spice on the palate. Finishes with lush tannins and hints of sage and mint.
