2006 Rosenthal Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Information
- Gold Medal, Best of Class (93 points), Los Angeles International Wine Competition
2006 was a challenging year for winegrowers statewide, and the Santa Monica Mountains were no exception. Drier than normal conditions gave us less water in the soil to start the spring, and we were dependent on earlier irrigations. Having this resource allowed us to fine tune the growth of the vines, keeping vigor to a minimum, yet allowing enough canopy growth to ripen the crop. As we do in most years, some cluster thinning was required to keep the tonnage per acre, and clusters per vine, to our target levels.
Characteristics
Exhibits deep purple-red color, with aromas of cedar and toasty oak. Polished flavors of cassis, mint, and red fruits on the mid-palate with hints of black rasp- berry, dark cherry and exotic spices on the long, full finish. Robust tannins sof- ten with aeration.
