CHRISTIAN ROGUENANT
Winemaker Biography
Christian Roguenant, one of the Central Coasts premiere
Winemakers, produces Rosenthal-The Malibu Estate wines. His
hands-on approach to wine making has gained him notoriety with
critics and consumers alike.
Christian
was immersed in the world of wine as a child where he lived in
several small villages and cities in Burgundy, France. After
years of exposure from wine growers and winemakers, Christian
knew his destiny.
He enrolled at the University of Dijon to study winemaking
and enology. After graduation, he continued his education with
one year of wine marketing, opening doors to many
opportunities.
He was at the prestigious house of Champagne Deutz for two
years before recruited to start a new endeavor in Californias
Central Coast at Maison Deutz. The wines received critical
acclaim in the marketplace during his twelve-year tenure.
Shortly afterward, the winery changed ownership. Christian
stayed on as wine-maker and later President of Laetitia the
new label whose focus was on wines from small lots of vineyard
designated still wines. Christian attained even greater
recognition from the Laetitia label. Wine Spectator featured
him as one of the winemakers to watch.
Christian began making Rosenthal-The Malibu Estate wines
with the 1996 vintage Chardonnay. He will continue to develop
and refine our future vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot,
and Chardonnay.
