Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate
1997 Cabernet SauvignonVintage Information: The
harvest of 1997 blessed Malibu Hills Vineyards with an
exceptional crop. While other California wineries were
experiencing a capacity crunch due to the early ripening
of their berries, we were praising Mother Nature for her
quick hand and warm, dry summer in the hills of Malibu.
The early bud break and harvest decreased our yields,
but allowed our Estate vines to produce excellent, high
quality fruit.
Our 1997 Rosenthal Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet
Franc.

Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate
1996 Cabernet SauvignonVintage Information: The
1996 vintage at Malibu Hills Vineyard demonstrates how
maturity of the estate vines coupled with optimum
growing conditions adds complexity and depth to the
finished wine. Warm sunny days gave way to cool nightly
breezes coming through the canyon contributing to the
overall balance. The wine exhibits aromas of cedar,
black cherry, and currant with a hint of mocha. The rich
palate shows great balance and elegance, with an essence
of spice and mint supported by rich, smooth tannins and
subtle oak influences.

Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate
1995 Cabernet SauvignonVintage Information:
Throughout California the 1995 harvest was one of the
lowest on record. Harvesting the fruit in this condition
would have resulted in an unripe tasting wine. So the
decision was made to hand remove these green berries
from each cluster. A laborious process for certain, but
crucial to the making of a balanced wine. The wine was
then aged in 35% new French oak barrels for 18 months.
The wine was neither fined nor filtered and exhibits the
typical signature characteristics of the Malibu Hills
Vineyard. Deep, complex flavors, great tannin structure
and a velvety finish.

Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate
1993 Cabernet SauvignonWinemaker
Notes: The 1993 growing season in the hills above Malibu
again produced an early harvest. The bud push was normal
in its time of emergence and the vineyards moved rapidly
to bloom in less than a week. Clusters which touched
other clusters or were observed to have more than two
clusters per shoot, were removed.
In 1993 bunch counts were approximately 25% more in
clusters than in previous years. The yield from the
vineyards increased as much as 30% on producing vines.
The increase in yield between 1992 and 1993 was in
cluster weight due to more berries being successfully
fertilized during bloom.

Rosenthal -
Central Coast
2003 Chardonnay
Winemaker Notes: A Complex Chardonnay, with fragrant
aromas of Meyer lemon, crisp apple, and stone fruit,
offset by slightly spicy, minerally notes. These impressions
are balanced by a supporting acidity, making the wine an ideal companion to
many dishes. Partial barrel fermentation adds a creamy dimension with a hint
of vanilla.
Limited production allows uncompromising quality. ($17/btl)

Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate
2004 Chardonnay
Winemaker Notes: We started the 2004 year with good winter chilling, and had uniform budburst in the spring. This followed with almost perfect weather during bloom, making for excellent "set" of the flowers, and consistent berries. We thinned over half the crop, leaving only 3 tons per acre. (22.50/btl)
